lyrics

Went back to my old home
The record shop had closed
Long with the diner down the road
And the club where my old band had played our first show
All the bands that used to play
all had broken up or moved south down to LA
and like a dog without a home I soon felt astray

crawled below my bed found this guitar
The one my grandpa gave me
had dust on every barre
So I buckled her in the front seat of my momma’s car
And I went down to the metro
Took out that guitar
and sang songs I used to know
but everyone was too busy looking at their phone

So I called up my high school friend
Said “hey it’s been a while
tell me how the hell you been
sure is great to hear your voice talking once again”
we decided to get a bite to eat
had a couple beers and we’d never skipped a beat
and on my way home felt a little more complete
